Recently, the 49th Geneva International Invention Exhibition was held in Geneva, Switzerland, featuring over 1000 technological inventions from more than 40 countries and regions.


The "Digital Water Plant Water Quality Risk Multi modal Monitoring and Drug Adaptive Intelligent Dosing Method and System" jointly submitted by Zhejiang Tianxingjian Water Affairs Co., Ltd., Professor Xiao Gang and Associate Professor Cheng Zhenbo from the School of Computer Science and Technology at Zhejiang University of Technology, and Professor Li Jun from the School of Environment, has won the Silver Award.


It is reported that the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva was founded in 1973 and is jointly organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization, the Swiss Federal Government, and others. It is one of the oldest, largest, and most well-known invention exhibitions in the world. Due to strict selection and professional standards, it is known as one of the "three major invention exhibitions in the world" along with the Pittsburgh Invention Exhibition in the United States and the Nuremberg International Invention Exhibition in Germany.

Project Introduction

The project team focused on the key technologies of multimodal monitoring of water quality risks in digital water plants and adaptive intelligent dosing methods and systems for chemicals, solving the problems of untimely monitoring and early warning of sudden changes in raw water quality in the traditional water production industry, long conventional detection and analysis time, extensive response of water production processes to sudden changes in water quality, and low collaborative efficiency of production process control. The main achievements of the project include:

We have invented a biological water quality safety monitoring and warning method based on artificial immune principles and visual perception technology, established a water quality safety evaluation model based on fish behavior semantics, proposed a series of water quality risk monitoring and warning algorithms, and developed a biological water quality safety warning system and device.

Invented a synchronous detection method for multiple pollution factors in water quality based on spectral feature recognition, constructed a database and identification evaluation model for typical compounds in drinking water based on ion torch spectrometer (MPT) and three-dimensional fluorescence, and developed an online synchronous detection device for multiple pollution factors in water quality.

An intelligent process adjustment and dosing method based on multi strategy collaborative optimization and multi-objective model prediction has been proposed. A digital twin based intelligent control platform for the entire production process has been developed, which realizes rapid process adjustment, precise dosing of chemicals, and collaborative intelligent control of multiple information systems across work departments in emergency situations of sudden changes in water quality from multiple water sources.

The research achievements of the project team in digital water plant water quality warning have successively won the second prize of Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award in 2022 and the special prize of National Commercial Science and Technology Progress Award in 2023. The relevant achievements have obtained 35 authorized patents (including 21 inventions), 28 software copyrights, published more than 70 papers, 2 monographs, and formulated 1 national standard and 3 local standards. The relevant achievements have been applied in more than 170 water plants, ensuring the safety of 1.027071 billion tons/year of water production and significant social and economic benefits.
