Application of Tianxingjian Ceramic Membrane in Pre treatment Process of Ten Thousand Ton Seawater Desalination

Recently, Tianjian Water's ceramic membrane seawater desalination system treatment project located in Xiangshan County, Ningbo City has been successfully completed and put into operation. This project is a seawater desalination system with a production capacity of 10000m ³/d. The raw water is taken from the coastal seawater of Zhejiang Province, and the produced water is mainly used for aquaculture. The water quality meets the various indicators specified in the "Water Quality Standards for Desalination Products" HY/T 247-2018. It is an innovative exploration and demonstration of Tianjian Water's ceramic membrane in seawater desalination pretreatment process.

After more than half a century of development, seawater desalination technology has become relatively mature in terms of technology, among which reverse osmosis seawater desalination process (SWRO) is currently the most widely used technology. A typical SWRO system includes a water intake system, a pretreatment system, a reverse osmosis desalination system, and a post-treatment system. Among them, a reasonable pretreatment system is one of the decisive factors for the successful operation of seawater desalination equipment. It can remove harmful substances to the reverse osmosis membrane, improve the service life of the reverse osmosis membrane, reduce cleaning frequency, energy consumption, and maintenance costs, while maintaining sustainable development of the environment.

Tianjian Water has applied ceramic ultrafiltration membrane coupling technology to the pretreatment process of seawater desalination systems, replacing traditional pretreatment methods. Compared with the original plate ceramic membrane pretreatment, it has the advantages of good and stable effluent quality, small footprint, and high degree of automation. The seawater pretreated with ceramic membrane maintains a stable effluent quality of around 0.05 NTU, SDI<3, Greatly reducing the treatment burden of reverse osmosis membranes, effectively delaying the membrane fouling process, and improving the effluent quality and seawater recovery rate. Effectively solves the disadvantages of traditional pretreatment methods, such as large footprint, high consumption of chemicals, and unstable effluent quality due to fluctuations in raw water quality.

Ceramic membranes are resistant to acid and alkali, have strong chemical stability, excellent antimicrobial ability, require minimal dosage, have a high processing capacity per unit membrane surface area, and have a large water production capacity. They can operate stably in seawater for a long time and are more suitable for seawater desalination pretreatment processes. The application of ceramic membranes in seawater desalination pretreatment processes has reduced the cost and simplified the process, further expanding the application fields of inorganic membranes. At the same time, it has also developed a new pretreatment process route for seawater desalination, which is conducive to achieving large-scale seawater desalination as soon as possible and has dual significance in both application and theory.
